  • Why should I service my trailer?
Why should I service my trailer?

Trailers are road-going vehicles, therefore they have to be ‘Road Safe’. Currently, there isn’t an MOT requirement for trailers, so it’s the responsibility of the driver to assess whether it’s roadworthy. VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) or the police can issue penalty points or a fine if they deem your trailer to be unroadworthy or unsafe.  This is why a regular trailer service is essential, as it helps you to be sure that your trailer is safe to be on the road.

  • How often should I service my trailer?
How often should I service my trailer?

If you use your trailer every day or it has heavy usage, we recommend that you book a trailer service every 6 months or every 6,000 miles, whichever comes first. For trailers that are used less frequently (i.e. for tip runs or camping holidays), annual servicing is sufficient. Regular servicing will help to keep your trailer in good condition and roadworthy. It will also help to prolong the life of your trailer and parts, which will help with the resale and part-exchange value.
