ROOF RACKS
Roof racks and roof bars are a great way to increase your vehicle’s carrying capacity and enable you to safely and securely transport large items like surfboards or canoes.
We stock a selection of Thule roof racks and we’ve got a dedicated area for roof racks and load carriers, with lots of options to suit most needs.
When you’re buying a roof rack , there are a few things you should bear in mind:
- It must fit your car perfectly, without leaving scratches and marks
- For the safety of yourself and other road users, it must stay securely attached during use
- It should be easy to assemble and fit
The type of vehicle you have will also impact on the type of roof rack you choose. Before you purchase, it’s essential to establish which of the following categories your vehicle falls in:
- Cars with a ‘normal’ roof: Whilst you may argue that all car roofs are ‘normal’, this term is used to describe any car roof that doesn’t have in-built roof rails or fixpoints. This means that the roof rack will grip around the edge of the roof.
- Cars with built-in fixpoints: Many cars are fitted with pre-installed attachments for roof racks and load carriers, known as fixpoints.
- Cars with rain gutters: If your vehicle has in-built rain gutters or a raised roof, there are a range of suitable Thule roof racks available.
- Cars with roof rails: If your vehicle has roof rails, there are several options available to you. Thule have roof racks to suit vehicles with normal sized, integrated or extreme roof rails.
- Cars with T-tracks: If your vehicle has factory fitted T-tracks on the roof, you can still benefit from a Thule roof rack. Simply mount the fitting kit onto the T-tracks and then you can easily click the load carrier on and off.
